Qusasat is a comic art development programme presented by the Lakes International Comic Art Festival LICAF (UK)in partnership with Power Group (Palestine) supported by British Council and Amos Trust to build capacity and develop the comic scene in Palestine.
It was first launched a Comic Art and Digital Production Summer Camp Beit Jala in July 2025. The programme offered a 10-day intensive learning experience to 13 emerging Palestinian artists who were selected through an open call (from more than 140 applicants)
The camp supported participants in developing both their comic creation and digital production skills to tell their stories. Mollie Ray, comic artist and illustrator from the UK trained and explored with the group visual storytelling, character development, narrative structure, and page design. Basel Nasr from The Animation Factory and Power Group introduced participants to production through animation, By the end of the programme, each participant created a short comic and an animated teaser.
The success of the first edition of Qusasat summer camp led to Qusasat 2, including mentoring for the first cohort with UK trainers and a new camp launching in the summer bringing more collaborations and opportunities.
